In every red carpet event, expect to see a lot of sparkle, shine…and sequins! That’s why during the recent 2012 American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California, we easily spotted some of our favorite music artists and celebrities in sequined numbers. From short cocktail dresses to floor length gowns donned by the stars, the event was truly a shimmering spectacle.
Pale pink and nude appeared to be the colors of choice but we also saw some pops of color. Let’s open the envelope and reveal the winning looks:

Taylor Swift
The romantic crooner charmed everyone with her fashion choice: a nude bead- and sequin-adorned mini dress with sheer long sleeves designd by Zuhair Murad. We love the soft touch of sheer lace and flower pattern embellishments. Taylor paired her shimmering dress with strappy Jimmy Choos and added more bling with Neil Lane jewels. Her makeup was light and airy and her hair was done in a simple updo.

Ginnifer Goodwin
Ginnifer emerged on the red carpet looking cute and pixie-like with her pale pink short sequin cocktail dress by Oscar de la Renta from the Resort 2013 collection. Its sequin beadwork is done in an interesting pattern of overlapping curves while the dress’ pink hemmed sleeves and skirt add a playful touch. The actress matched her sequin creation with Jimmy Choo shoes and a Judith Leiber clutch.

Hayden Panettiere
One of the night’s presenters, Hayden graced the event in a white Giorgio Armani mini dress with spaghetti straps, tiny pleats and rows of pearlescent sequins. The Nashville star’s hair was swept up in a classy bun and her luminous makeup gave her a sweet glow. Satin Giuseppe Zanotti platform peep toes and a Giorgio Armani clutch provided the final touches to her stylish look.

Carly Rae Jepsen
Carly Rae went home a winner by bagging the New Artist of the Year award at the AMAs. And a winner she truly was in her floor length fully-sequined Gomez-Gracia halter gown. The pink number was perfect for the singer — not too revealing yet hardly boring. For accessories, she chose to wear Brian Atwood shoes and an Edie Parker clutch. We even spotted more shimmer on her glittery nails. How cute is that?

Carrie Underwood
Also receiving a Favorite Country Album award for Blown Away, Carrie Underwood was the epitome of elegance as she walked the red carpet in a sequined purple gown with a small train by Abed Mahfouz. The intricate sequin pattern, high neck and cap sleeves was a fitting choice for the country winner. A gold Jill Milan clutch complemented her gown.
Special Mention:

Psy
We couldn’t resist adding our wild card, South Korean superstar Park Jae-sang a.k.a. Psy, and his sequined outfit. The picture on the left shows him wearing a pair of sequined pants with a leather tuxedo coat and classic oxfords. He changed into a pair of hammer pants and a sequined jacket (seen at right hamming it up with MC Hammer). Together, they closed the show with a surprise number — a mash-up of Gangnam Style/Too Legit To Quit.
Cheers to the winners!
