The actress looked stunning on the red carpet of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards. She wore a red gown from one of her favorite labels, Giorgio Armani Privé, from the Spring 2009 collection (sans the tassel accent). The gown is Asian-inspired with its cut and color; overall square sequins gave it a shimmering touch while the black trim, cap sleeves, plunging V-neckline and fishtail hem added interest to its already bold style. Black long drop earrings and side swept hair highlighted Cate’s features which was done with barely there make up.

I love the Oriental feel of this gown and with the coming Lunar Year, a dress such as this would be a perfect choice for the occasion. While a similar dress is pretty hard to find, I was able to find some dresses with a hint of Asian influence and tinges of sequins:

We’re all a-flutter with the sequined dresses we’ve seen and it’s hard to choose which ensemble we really like best.

From the red carpet arrivals  to the various after parties, we’re seeing a lot of low cuts, high slits, sheer dresses and strapless ensembles. Black, white and red were the colors of choice but there were also some pops of color such as coral, blue, orange and purple as well as soft shades in blush and nude.

Eva Longoria

No words can describe how hot Eva Longoria looks in this high slit and ultra low neckline sequin, lace and chiffon Emilio Pucci dress which was customized for the star. Completing her dramatic look were a pair of black Charlotte Olympia heels and Martin Katz jewelry.

Jennifer Lopez

Trust Jennifer Lopez to show off her figure in confidence and style as she graced the red carpet wearing another revealing Zuhair Murad gown. Pretty in pink sequins. Glee star Lea Michele not only looked gorgeous during the show; she also took home the Favorite Comedic TV Actress award. The actress wore a lace and sequin Elie Saab S/S 2012 cocktail dress which she paired with pink strappy Jimmy Choos. A braided updo complemented her sweet and fresh look.

White radiance. Homeland star Morena Baccarin opted for a white Donna Kara Atelier pantsuit with a sequin and teardrop bead bustier. She kept her look simple with her hair slicked back and accessories minimal with a Swarovski clutch, Rene Caovilla shoes, and Norman Silverman diamond cluster cuff earrings.

High wattage. Naomi Watts was electrifying in her backless gold and black Alexander McQueen gown which highlights a sequined top with a bejeweled collar. Star of new flick The Impossible, the 44-year-old actress also wore Jennifer Meyer gold earrings and bracelets, and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Not a bit awkward. Awkward star Ashley Rickards was brimming with confidence and elegance as she emerged on the red carpet in a sequin and bead nude Aidan Mattox dress which she accessorized with Brian Atwood heels, a Michael Kors necklace and Heirloom earrings. The show won Favorite TV Cable Comedy and Ashley accepted the award along with the cast.

Sparkling belle. Actress and dancer Julianne Hough sashayed on the red carpet and looked stunning in her blue-gray bead- and sequin-embellished Tony Ward couture dress. Silver Guiseppe Zanotti heels, Norman Silveran earrings and a Misaki ring completed the Safe Haven stars’ look.

Rumer has it. It’s all about stripes and sequins for Rumer Willis as she graced the red carpet in a silver and black floor length gown with a cutout back from Alice+Olivia by Stacy Bendet. A silver box clutch, blue dangling earrings, and thin black bracelet were her accessories of choice. Smoky eyes and sexy curls capped her enigmatic look.
