Style Guide: Ways to Wear A Sequin Jacket

Many women do tend to shy away from the sequin jacket partly because of its ostensible glitter and mostly because it’s really a tricky piece to wear. You can’t just throw on sequins like you do denim, it takes a bit of thought when putting together a sequin look. By a “bit of thought”, I mean the just-a-little-overview-in-the-head and is actually a no-brainer. To kick off your glam ensembles, here’s a little how-to lesson so you can keep on wearing that sequin jacket of yours this hot season and beyond!

1. Casual Cool

It doesn’t hurt to run around town in a glamorous varsity-style sequin jacket especially if you pair it with comfy sneakers such as the Marc Jacobs Standard Supply High Tops. The high-low profiles of both jacket and sneakers form a perfect symmetry. Of course, adding that dash of color via your accessories or top will help make your look more daytime and less nighttime. Consider the Alexander Wang Slub Classic Muscle Tee in the perfect shade of summer blue. The Stone Friendship Cuff from ONE by Mercedes Salazar is one great looking bracelet, available at ShopBop.

2. Flirty Feminine

A great way o tone down a black sequin jacket is by pairing it with patterns. Your best bet would be a floral dress with not too much colors on it such as the Max Mara floral print dress above. A pair of killer sandals is also essential! This Brian Atwood Campisa Suede Pumps tops our list. One of our favorite sequin jackets, worn by Christina Aguilera during one of the episodes of The Voice, is now currently on sale at FarFetch. The Dolce & Gabanna black sequined blazer can also be yours!

3. Gorgeous Glam

The trickiest of them all is the colored sequin jacket. As opposed to the neutrals and blacks, brightly-hued ones demand much more attention. Because of this characteristic, the safest way to wear a colored sequin jacket is to go black or neutral on the rest of the outfit. See how we’ve paired the PAROSH sequined jacket here with J Brand black coated jeans, a black sleeveless top from Juicy Couture and a pair of Guiseppe Zanotti animal print pumps. Lastly, we added the Aida Kibur Drop Earrings as a final touch. Tres chic, yes?
