Selena Gomez in Dolce & Gabbana: Yay or Nay?

Selena Gomez sure lit up the 2012 Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards this year and for good reason. Aside from the stunning ensemble that she wore, the young songstress also bagged 2 awards: Favorite Female Singer and Favorite TV Actress. Gomez decided to hitch both her skirt and her top a notch higher, pushing for a bolder and sexier look. Her embellished skirt and bustier top are from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 runway collection, the shoes from Cesare Paciotti. She didn’t miss a note.

I love how she pulled off the floral jacquard cropped top: a lot of skin but without the trashy look. The skirt is amazing although Gomez isn’t the first to be seen in it, the sultry Megan Fox also wore it to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last February. You can view the photo here.

A closer look at the skirt reveals crystals and stones in thick clusters sewed on the same floral pink jacquard material used for the bustier top. It must have been tedious to create this garment if the embellishments were individually hand sewn! The fine craftsmanship of a Dolce & Gabbana piece clearly makes this skirt a stand-out.

We scoured online for embellished skirts and found a hefty number but nothing quite as extra-ordinary as this D&G piece. However, you can actually achieve this look in two methods. First, by using a skirt with a waistband that already has a design and second, by using a spectacular embellished belt over a simpler skirt such as below.
