This year’s Grammy was a contradiction of all sorts. First, there was Nicki Minaj’s catastrophic red carpet walk, followed by a confusing, lackluster performance. And then there was the solemn, heartfelt tribute by Jennifer Hudson for the late Whitney Houston – appropriate and awe inspiring. But the ultimate buzz is all about Adele, winning all six nominations she had and stood out in a custom made sequined Giorgio Armani. The 3/4 sleeves and cinched waist, topped off with her signature hairstyle and matte red lips suited the singer’s classic but sexy look.

Other attendees also hopped on the sequin bandwagon, each one sporting their own unique style. Prim and pretty, Greta’s champagne colored dress with its length is appropriate, although with the hairstyle she chose it almost bordered on too prom-like.

Seeing Taylor Swift in this sequined Zuhair Murad dress reminds us of Nicole Kidman. The dress is stunning but Taylor looks a bit too trying on this one. Maybe in a couple more years, she’ll look mature enough for this dress. Not that we’re hoping to see her recycle this dress on the RC.

Carrie’s dress is a very inspired choice. With the sequins complimenting the understated silhouette, the look was classy and mature yet form fitting enough to show her curves. We also love the choice of a black clutch against the icy color of her dress.
Carrie Underwood in Gomez-Garcia
We weren’t that excited with Kelly’s look, although we admit she looks gorgeous in it. It’s just that her hair color washed out her complexion and the color of her Tony Ward dress. It’s too matchy-matchy for our taste. Maybe a different hair color will do the look a hundred times good.

Sticking with her Smurfette persona, Katy Perry walked on the red carpet with her blue hair and matching blue Elie Saab sequined appliqued dress. We love her flawless makeup but the dress’ silhouette wasn’t that flattering when we first saw it. But the back portion of the dress changed our minds. It added that much needed oomph to complete the look.

Now let’s take a look at our recent online picks to get that fabulous red carpet look:

Theia midnight sequined strapless belted gown with shawl, $1,085 $657 only at Bluefly.com
The midnight blue color spells nothing but regal and the cinched waist makes for a sexy, yet reserved look. Want another reason to buy it? Instead of the hefty $1,085 retail price, you can get it for $657 only at Bluefly.com.

Aidan Mattox gold sequined chiffon empire waist gown, $460 $276 only at Bluefly.com
This dress reminds me of medieval times with it’s chain mail like bodice and flowing, chiffon skirt. The shape is very forgiving, and it’s another great steal from Bluefly.com.
BCBGMAXAZRIA Cain Appliqué Sequin Gown, $398
I’m in love with the modern romantic feel of this dress. Wear it with an old Hollywood hairdo a la Garbo or keep it simple in a sleek updo, a dazzling necklace, nude lips and smokey, smokey eyes.
