Christina Aguilera’s D&G Sequined Blazer

If J Lo rules the American Idol with sexy songstress appeal, so does Christina A at The Voice. In the season finale of the show last week, she glammed up in studded Norma Kamali shorts over fishnet stockings topped with a gorgeous sequin blazer from Dolce & Gabbana.

Known for her interesting and daring choices in fashion, Aguilera did make sure everyone remembered her in the season’s last episode. It would have been the classic tuxedo ensemble, except of course that hers was pant-less. The white tuxedo shirt is also from Dolce & Gabbana.

Her sequined blazer is a winner in all aspects: velvet fabric make up the front lapels for a more elegant finish while the cut flatters the natural shape of the body. As a result, the look veers on the ‘provocative tomboy’ side. I don’t know about the studded shorts but I definitely dig the blazer!

Glitzy Coats & Jackets You Could Wear Right Now!

The spring and summer may further highlight the glint of your sequined coat or jacket but if you are keen on getting yourself seen in a mob of neons or pastels, donning one is exactly the way to go. One of my style icons, Gwyneth Paltrow, has always been a careful dresser, if not scrupulously so. She was spotted last month in a blue sequin number with nary a hint of a wardrobe malfunction (irrational dressing, in other words) even on a bright sunny day.

Jessica Alba’s Sequined Tie at Lucky Magazine’s FABB Event

When was the last time you honestly saw a woman wearing a sequined neck tie? I bet not yesterday. Jessica Alba continues to surprise us with her flair for fashion, showing up for Lucky Magazine’s Fashion and Beauty Blog Conference held at Santa Monica, California last April 30 clad in printed pants, a grey sweater with Peter Pan collar, coral pumps and yes… a black sequined neck tie.

Jessie’s top is actually a one-piece number from Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet, a part of the designer’s Fall 2012 Collection. Called the Delray sweater, it is made from grey cashmere and styled with a faux white collar and a black sequin tie. She was a standout amongst the dress-clad ladies in the ultra swanky affair, I think she nailed the masculine-feminine look! Her printed pants from Top Shop has all the colors in her palette, save for orange. It instantly ties her look together.

Are you lovin’ Jessica Alba’s fashion forward style? Well, I know I am! Let’s see if we can copy her look for less. I found an interesting pair of jeans from Textile Elizabeth & James at Saks Fifth Avenue in white, black and grey tones. Here’s a shirt with a Peter Pan collar, still from Saks, although a sleeveless one would have been better. But hey, we’re aiming for the entire Jessie look, yah? So the collar design is of prime importance! Wear the grey Paul Smith sweater over the white shirt, fold the sleeves together to reveal a white hem (from the inner shirt). The coral colored pumps from Aldo is a steal for $59.99! Lastly, grab the sequined tie from Sequin World for only $16.50. Enjoy!

Who Wore The Sequined Dress Lately?

Sequin or no sequin, it is a fact that J Lo has an amazing bod (not to mention a booty-licious behind, too) but the black micro mini back-less dress she wore to last week’s episode of American Idol further emphasized her legs and curves, plus gave her a huge amount of sparkle. Perhaps too much? The couture dress does merit a comment here after it wreaked havoc amongst the sequin-lovers community, never mind if some aren’t actually members of J Lo’s fan club.

The dress is from the Zuhair Murad Spring 2012 Collection. The spiked pumps are, of course, from her favorite luxe shoe designer Christian Louboutin. Do you think the flashy frock is too short on J Lo? The fashion peeps have already dished out their opinion: she looked ready to be a contestant in an ice skating competition rather than to be a judge in America’s number one talent show.

Meanwhile, Kate Hudson was ravishing in a sequined purple gown by Jenny Packham. Contrary to J Lo’s dress, hers was rather conservative: long sleeved and full length but it actually gave KH a very flattering silhouette. I love how the shimmer of her dress is juxtaposed against her bare skin, almost giving her face a glow. She kept everything else minimal — small tassel earrings and a black clutch capped off her red carpet wear. Regal. Gorgeous.

Jenny McCarthy Does the Glitter for a Gig at TV’s The Grove

Model turned actress and TV host Jenny McCarthy showed up at The Grove in a rather groovy number: skin tight black leggings, black booties and a sparkly sequined top that can kick the living daylights out of a plain boring top. One has to be crazy and funny enough to be able to get away with a shimmery full-sequined top in broad daylight: that’s Jenny McCarthy. Crazy in a cute kind of way. And did I mention she is an activist with plethora of accolades and credits up her sleeve? Fierce should be the word. And she looks amazing too!

Although this photo is a bit outdated (it was taken last December 2011), we sure are certain it still looks chic even when worn today!
